As the mayor of a small municipality, I believe that criticism and collaboration are vital to democracy. The best decisions are driven not by ideology but by the tough work of compromise based on our values, different experiences and good information. I believe that proportional representation will bring a fairer representation of British Columbians to the legislature, and require our elected representatives to collaborate and compromise more, resulting in better
Josie has been Mayor of Tofino since 2013. She also serves as the Chair of the Board for the Island Coastal Economic Trust, and Vice-Chair of the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District.
Josie is a former registered professional biologist, and worked as a fisheries biologist for coastal First Nations. She also worked as Executive Director of the Raincoast Education Society, and has extensive experience serving on boards of arts, culture, tourism, and environmental non-profit organizations. She and her husband collaborate on several tourism-related small businesses in Tofino.
